Sequence 5

For sequence 5, sampling is performed by filtration in the cloud region. The altitude range is fixed by the time at which the pyrolysis products analyses must be finished so that GCMS is freed for direct GCMS analysis of the atmosphere. It means that the second sampling phase, which starts To+77 min (nominal descent profile, 22 km) must be finished at To+88 min 30 s (17 km nominal descent profile). Then, after about 11 min of sampling, the filter is moved back into the oven, which is closed for preparation and analysis. Before dealing with the next sequence, there is a standby period of 9 min in order to wait for GCMS as it completes its analysis of sample cell number 3.
